My Favorite

I'm back! It appears I've been on a blogging hiatus, and to be honest I've enjoyed the break. I totally love blogging but that's part of the problem, I love it too much and sometimes it can take up too much of my time when there are other important things to do.

Some may know that I'm not one to choose "favorites" - I say, Why limit yourself? That being said, I've decided that Easter is my favorite holiday. Easter signifies so much, most importantly I love the celebration of Christ's life, death, and resurrection. Easter also signifies spring and everything new that comes with it. New life in plants and animals, SUN, warmth, saying goodbye to winter, open windows, fresh air, spring cleaning, being outside, gardening, bright clothing, tanning lotions - I could go on and on. Yay for Spring!

Easter itself was lovely. We decided to celebrate the Easter Bunny on Saturday so we could focus on the most important part of Easter on Sunday. I liked it that way. Its weird to be the Easter Bunny. Chad and I found ourselves wondering what and how the Easter Bunny should do things. Do we do toys in the baskets? How elaborate should they be? How much candy do we give? When do the dyed eggs come out of the fridge? Are the dyed eggs part of the EBs job or does the kid just know that the parents hide them? So many questions and yet another year down and he still believes. I think we did our job.

Its Finally Coming!!

Tomorrow's the big day! I have been waiting forever it seems for this movie to be released on DVD. I've wanted to see it again and I've been wanting Chad to see it. I absolutely love this movie because I was so thoroughly entertained throughout and Steve Carell makes me laugh. Not to mention it was pretty clean.

I hate building up movies too much cause I know that ruins it so go in not expecting too much and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

My American Idol Fav

This guy is my favorite from American Idol. I even take the time to vote for him. I vote for him and David Archuleta each week. He's not polished at all but I really love his style of singing and I like how he has minimal instruments in the background. Does anyone else think he looks like John Travolta from the side? And listen to Paula at the end, she can barely get her words out. Its weird.

This One Deserves A Post

Tonight as Chad, Ethan, and I were driving we started talking about the 5 shots that Ethan got on Friday. We were talking about how he cried but that it was OK and that we probably would have cried too. He asked if his cousin Rachel had gotten her shots. We told him she probably will before she goes into kindergarten (she's a year behind Ethan). Ethan says, "I bet she'll cry too." Chad goes, "We don't know, she may not cry. " And then Ethan says with a really demanding voice, "LISTEN, I'm 5, she's 4, of course she's gonna cry!"

Ethan and Rachel are really good buddies and they play really well together, but for some reason Ethan always has to play his seniority card with her. He likes the fact that he's older - they're only 11 months apart. When she turned 4 in December and I told Ethan that he and Rachel were the same age for a month his countenance just fell and he goes, "You mean she's four too?" I think reality hit that he wasn't as old as he thought he was. Its just a funny little rivalry and I can't wait to see how this all plays out as they get older.

Alright, I'm Doing It

I got tagged a while back from Holly so here it goes:

How long have you been married? 7 years (8 in June)
How long did you date? 8 months dating and 2 1/2 month engagement - believe it or not since we were dating in Provo we were getting some slack about dating for so long.
Who eats more sweets? It depends what the sweets are. If its some sort of rich dessert I'm all over it. But if its cookies or ice cream Chad's all over those.
Who said I love you first? To be honest I can't really remember which makes me mad. I really wish I could remember the exact moment. I think I may have told him in a round about way like "I think I'm falling in love with you." Then one night Chad took me into the middle of a field near his house and it seemed like something was on his mind and I asked him a few times if there was something he was wanting to say and he said there wasn't. Later, after we had broken the "I love you" ice he told me he wanted to tell me that night but he lost the nerve. I thought that was cute.
How old is he? 32
Who is taller? He is - he's almost 6'4" and I'm 5'10"
Who is smarter? In all honesty I think we both are in different ways - he's book smart - he can read things and remember them really well, which I admire because I'm so horrible at recalling facts. So he's just good at knowing a lot about everything. I'm good at random things like Scrabble, Rubiks Race, puzzles, etc.
Who can sing better? I would say Chad has a better voice. He hasn't had much experience singing but when he does he sounds really good. I like to sing as pure hobby. I'm always singing in private or in front of close family but I don't dare in public unless there are a lot of others singing with me. I've been dubbed the "chimer" because Chad can't sing a song without me chiming in within seconds of starting it.
Who pays the bills? I do. Chad would rather not know about all the money going out.
Who does the laundry? I do it 95% of the time. He will help me fold and put it away if I've left it in a big pile in our family room.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Not to be difficult but which right side? The right side when you're looking at it? Or when you're actually laying in it. Looking at it it would be Chad. While laying in it it would be me
Who mows the lawn? Chad. I've mowed a lawn once in my life. What can I say I've got 3 older brothers.
Who cooks dinner? Me. If Chad cooked we'd probably have sandwiches, spanish rice or something frozen every night. Although he did make pancakes from scratch on Saturday, I was quite impressed.
Who drives? Both of us - I would say he drives more often. Since he doesn't know this area as well I'll drive to places he doesn't know so then I don't have to direct him as much. Ethan has told me on a couple of occasions to "stop bossing dad around" as I've been directing him in the car.
Who is more stubborn? ME. I get that from my mom. Love you mom!
Who kissed who first? Depends who you ask. I say it was mutual and he says that I definately kissed him first.
Who asked who out? I guess you could say I did. We were just friends and we'd been hanging out about a week and he came over one Saturday and I was telling him that I was really in the mood to go see a movie and I asked if he wanted to go with me. He said that thats the reason he came over was to see if I wanted to go to the movies with him. We saw Runaway Bride.
Who proposed? One night we were talking about what would happen when the semester ended cause I was going to be graduating and then that led us to a DTR conversation which led us to talking about getting married which led us to which temple and when. A really peaceful feeling came over us as we started making the plans that night and I knew it was right. We started looking for rings the next day. Then he officially proposed when the ring came in. He took me on a drive up the canyon and officially proposed at Sundance.
Who has more siblings? He does. 6 kids on his side, 5 on mine.
Who wears the pants? To be honest I don't think that either of us is the "boss" as Ethan would say. I think its pretty equal.

Chad is the best husband and dad and I feel so blessed to have him in my life. I love him more and more each day. I love you Chad!!

*Sorry the pics didn't turn out like I would like. I don't know how to work with scanned pictures as well as digital. Wish they were closer up. If you've got any tips let me know.

These are a few pics from dating and as newlyweds. Check out how skinny I was in the pic of our halloween costumes. I was wearing my roomates girlscout outfit from when she was 12 years old (Right Emily and Carrie??).

And I tag anyone who's looking for an idea for a new post - Lori? Courtney?

Tossing And Turning

Why is it that I'm dead tired at 5pm and I find myself in Ethan's bed begging him to let the pink Power Ranger take a 5 minute nap. Not going to happen. Then I find myself at 11pm wide awake. Its an annoying phenomenon. Sometimes I just can't get my mind to turn off. This was the case last night.

We've been working on our adoption paperwork and also looking through some other adoptive couple's profiles to get ideas and also to get an idea of who our "competition" is. I get so excited to adopt and then I start looking at everyone's profiles and wonder how in the world anyone will ever choose us amongst thousands of other couples?? Its very overwhelming. There are so many wonderful couples out there who deserve children. I guess it comes down to trust - trusting Heavenly Father that He has a plan for us and that there is a child who is meant to be in our family and somehow we'll find them. Its taken me a while to get here. 3 years ago I wasn't so trusting, I was more like a little child wanting to pound my feet and shake my fists at Heavenly Father while yelling "Why?! Why?! Why?!" Thanks to prayer, fasting, and scripture reading I'm luckily in a much better place now. I don't think yelling at Heavenly Father was the right way to go. I have a long way to go but I feel like I'm finally ready to give my will to His. Then again, it depends on the day, sometimes its easier than others. Its interesting how infertility or any other trial can humble you so much and help you realize that you're not in as much control of your life as you thought you were.

I know I'm very, very blessed and my trials are very small in comparison to many. If I ever start taking pity on myself I think of our friends Jason and Char who are going through a trial I couldn't even imagine. Jason and Char have 3 young children and Jason has been fighting a brain tumor for about 7 years. Someone with this type of brain tumor lives between 5-10 years. I'm sad they have to go through something like this but I admire their courage, strength, and happy spirits as they face an uncertain future.

That's it, now you know what I was thinking as I tossed and turned last night and why I feel the need to blog about it, I'm not sure. But there it is. Pictured are 2 of my greatest blessings.

Lets Get Ready To Ruuummmble!!

This is what Chad and Ethan do during the American Idol commercial breaks on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
